Somerset Steam & Country Show

Step back in time and jump into the present

Somerset Steam and Country Show is back on the 22nd -23rd July in Lowham near Langport.

As you arrive at our beautiful show site the gentle sound of a vintage organ will great you at the gate. Next you will come to a great selection of trade with all the things you really can’t live without especially that oversize rusty spanner. You suddenly hear the roar of a big diesel and the whine of a turbo as at the side of the field the tractor puller floors the throttle always a great spectacle.

You will the find loads going on with our new small ring, which will have a fun dog show which your very own hounds our welcome to enter. Minature steam will be on the move around with an opportunity to grab a ride behind a Minature or full size steam engine all for free.

Then if you have younger guests with you stop off at the childrens area which has things like sandpit and tractors for the younger ones and some circus skills games for those a little older.
Whilst they have a play why not enjoy a tea and cake in our new for 2023 STEC Tearoom.

As your tea cools have a go at bellringing with the portable bell tour. Then as you move into the next field there will be wild west shows performing. In the ring will be parades of cars, Tractors military, commercials, bikes and then performing twice a day will be the amazing stunt rider Flyin Ryan who when booking told me I will need something big to jump!!!!

With the sad new of great Dorset not running this year we have really pushed the boat out with our working steam this year and we will be having heavy haulage with vintage trailers, Timber carriage Log loading, Full steam road making area, steam ploughing both direct and cable, steam sawing and Thrashing. With 26 full size steam engines working all over the site and 23 miniatures this will really give a glimpse into the past.

Then as the day ends a ride on the dodgems a visit to the vintage penny arcades and perhaps a cider made from the apples of the land you are stood on.

See you on the Rally Field.
